Another ground breaking event at Ravensbourne from the RSU took place on the 7th November with the RSU Fun Day. Taking place during Enhancement week we threw a unique take on a house party by having a bar on Level 4 for the first time in Ravensbourne history! The start of the day was focused on Children in Need and the students, so we held a raffle-cum-tombola and a bake off, with a selection of the most delicious cake and scrumptious brownies that were in high demand! The Sumo ring was a highlight for many as students jumped and bumped around for free, with their friends in energetic bursts. The Tombola also had a never- seen-before grand prize of the RSU Golden Ticket – the golden ticket gives you and a friend free entry to all of our events for the rest of the academic year! The day was also a chance for some societies to promote themselves again, to show what they were about. Movie, Anime and Gaming had a great turn out of students playing consoles and a tombola of their own. The Rave Runners and Ravensbourne Film Society came out in force while the Ravensbourne Student Radio aka Radio SE10 had great tunes on throughout the day and taking some dubious song requests on behalf of the SU Team… Our WelFairy made her first appearance in spectacular style, wings and all, with her hashtag competition to meet and selfie with Honey Yeo our Welfare Vice President. The lucky winners of the Welfairy Competition and the Bake Off were Ledicia Castro and Joe Roberts! They both received £20 Amazon Gift Vouchers. At Ravensbourne we heard your cries for a Student Social and we gave you what you wanted, from 4 o’clock onwards we provided a bar, with affordable drinks, until 9 o’clock! There was a great turn out and even greater feedback, the music still pumping there was a great atmosphere of a really diverse and friendly crowd. The amazing feedback and turn out should hold well for future events so keep an eye out for the bar coming back! A huge thank you to everyone who came, donated, got involved and enjoyed themselves!!
