Jonathan Cando Jurado

Jonathan Cando, this is the name of the person with the vision of improving not just the Design School but Ravensbourne as a whole. Ravensbourne is quite literally like no other; we hold something unique. From the way we communicate things to the way we do things. Ravensbourne IS Ravensbourne. The news of Ravensbourne acquiring university status brought doubt on my mind, thinking it could potentially change the way we are and do things. I was proven wrong. Being able to communicate ideas down from student to student rep to parliament is something so organic and something that I've been proud to be a part of — both as a student and student rep and as a vice president in the future.

I understand these are early stages in the election campaign, but I want to be part of keeping Ravensbourne, Ravensbourne. I have shown significant interaction not only between students in class but with peers from different courses and years ranging from 1st-year architecture all to 3rd-year film production. The ability to communicate with these peers has given and will give me something that can only be achieved with genuine care for people. I hold the honest opinion of people around the campus. This is key as vice president. I believe it’s important to interact with as many people as possible. This is not to have fun and talk but to be able to bond with students.

Furthermore, students will always be the priority as a vice president, but having a bond with not only tutors, but all staff in the building has been something I've achieved throughout my time on the campus. Being a student rep in my last year has also introduced me to great people ‘behind the scenes’ at Ravensbourne.

Finally, I would like to let my name be something of remembrance now as I can reassure everyone that it will be by the end of my run. Because Jonathan. Can. Do.
