Creating a foundation of support for students by building a community within our institution.

I am currently a motion graphics student and an events producer for the Tate organisation. Throughout my time at Ravensbourne university, I collaborated with the student union faculty and students from different backgrounds to produce events and other projects. Through these opportunities, I have built a community of individuals who instantly became a foundation of support for each other. This has influenced me to stay motivated and aspire to become the best version of myself. With that said, I aim to create a progressive environment within our institution to engage students with one another and prep them for their future careers.

Being part of the SEEDs programme where the majority of the participants are alumnis of Ravensbourne, I have gained insights on the importance of applying professionalism within creativity and how their overall university experience could be improved. I aim to help students understand professionalism in the creative world and apply it to their craft, as well as improve their overall student experience at university by helping students become more aware of its many activities and opportunities.

With my experience as an events producer, I aim to help students orchestrate their own events - whether this is through exhibitions, talks, performances etc. as it is important for students to recognise other students’ skills and talents within our institution. This will be a great way to synergise an engaging environment with progressive meaning for students as their outreach to others and the industry, will improve. I strongly believe that through this process, it will cause influence others to work on their own craft and be inspired to do the best they can whilst in university.

As an industry driven university, it is important for students to gain insights from different backgrounds of different fields of work. Similar to the structure of ‘The Lates’ and ‘nuff said’ events, we should have a diversity of industry representatives who can share their stories to students as symbols of inspirations and role models who can further motivate them. During my experience at Ravensbourne, these talks/networking events has really pushed me to become more confident and build on my overall self skills. Through these events, I wish to continue and improve its structure so students get the best of the opportunity in front of them.

By being the bridge for students, I will ensure that we can create a better environment within our institution.
